Defense Logistics Agency, DLA, authorizes Minco to provide MIL-STD-750 Fine and Gross Leak Testing Services to the market

This certification allows Minco Technology Labs to service our aerospace customers requiring either MIL-STD-883 or MIL-STD-750 test methodologies

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) September 12, 2014

Minco Technology Labs, LLC, leading supplier of semiconductor components and high reliability testing services, is pleased to announce their new Lab Suitability Certification for Fine and Gross Leak Testing from the Defense Logistics Agency, DLA.

Minco Technology Labs, LLC underwent an audit that included submitting test procedures to and passing inspections performed by DLA. The Defense Logistics Agency now considers Minco properly equipped to perform the Test Method 1071 – Hermetic Seal per MIL-STD-750.

“This certification allows Minco to service our aerospace customers requiring either MIL-STD-883 or MIL-STD-750 test methodologies,” said Jeffery Weiss, VP of Sales at Minco Technology Labs.

This standard establishes uniform methods for testing semiconductor devices, including basic environmental tests to determine resistance to deleterious effects of natural elements and conditions surrounding military operations, and physical and electrical tests. For the purpose of this standard, the term “devices” includes such items as transistors, diodes, voltage regulators, rectifiers, tunnel diodes, and other related parts. This standard is intended to apply only to semiconductor devices.

Hermetic seal testing is a crucial requirement for military, space, as well as hermetically sealed devices. A lack of hermeticity is a reliability concern that may allow moisture and contaminants to enter the internal cavity, which could lead to failure.

With this certification, Minco is a leading test services provider and is now better able to service our Aerospace customers with the up-to-date testing methods that reduce time spent in the lab due to improved test equipment,” states Bill Bradford, CEO of Minco Technology Labs.

For 30 years, Minco Technology Labs, LLC has led the High-Reliability (Hi-Rel) and custom packaging industry. Minco is a DLA qualified manufacturer and assembler of end-of-life and obsolete semiconductor components. We provide QML standard parts used in military, aerospace, medical, high-temperature, and other harsh environment and industrial applications.

“Testing for hermeticity applies to packaged assemblies that contain a cavity; examples of this are ceramic and metal packages. The two standards that apply to hermetic cavity packages are MIL-STD-750 for discretes, & MIL-STD-883 for microcircuits. The test within these standards can be used for all package types. Minco is now DLA certified for hermeticity testing for both MIL-STD-883 and MIL-STD-750,” says Pat McCord, VP of Quality at Minco Technology Labs.
